Les Misérables

The Adelaide University French Club proudly presents its 2016 theatrical production, Les Misérables, adapted from the original stage play, which Victor Hugo's own son Charles adapted from his father's celebrated 1862 novel.

Les Misérables is set against the backdrop of the Restoration (1815-1830) and the July Monarch (1830-1848), and features an explosive finale on the barricades of the June Rebellion. The play follows the ensemble cast through the challenges of daily life in early 19th Century France, examining the inner workings of society, justice, morality and the choices we face each day.

English-speaking audience members will likely be familiar with the storyline from the popular Broadway-style musical, as performed worldwide, and for those that are new to this iconic work of French literature, the play will feature English surtitles and a printed scene-by-scene guide.

Performances will be at the Little Theatre, Adelaide University Cloisters (https://goo.gl/maps/p876K8QFsUv)
