Kylie Kain + Ciaram Granger

STONE PONY PRESENTS....
Friday 15th July 2016

Kylie Kain:
Kylie Kain
Most of her musical career, Kylie has spent writing songs with the fragile members of Adelaide; In detox centres and homeless outreaches; with indigenous and new Australians; with young mothers and school kids who struggle in the education system; and with dementia patients. Music is a language with different rules to speech. What is able to be sung is not always able to be spoken.  It satisfies the yearning for communication and connection. It unlocks gates. It reaches across. That is the bag of tools, the purpose and the joy of Kylie’s musical story.
Kylie’s song, ‘Stompin the Ground’ written for Reconciliation Week won the National Sing Loud Competition 2014 for best original song, judged by none other than Gurrumul and Delta Goodrem. Concepts for the song were born from conversations with dear friends; white and indigenous Barkinji and Ngarrindjeri men and women with the idea of composing an uplifting and empowering song about what is required to reconcile.
