Adelaide Songs

Fast becoming an Adelaide cult show....this  acclaimed concert/cabaret was one of the wow music events of the 2016 Adelaide Fringe Festival receiving 4.5 stars and rave reviews.

Did Colonel Light get it right? Why do we have our unique “Butcher” of beer? Got the Adelaide Festival Overload Blues?
These and other questions are answered in an entertaining concert/cabaret “Adelaide – the Songs”
It’s a unique show devised to create songs about Adelaide’s CBD, its history and characters.
Seven local songwriters combined with historian Pat Sumerling to uncover some of the darker and lighter aspects of our hometown. “We found so much material we could have written 50 songs,” said Keith Preston, Project Co-ordinator. “This show helps answer some burning questions about Adelaide!” Many people would not know the origins of our unique butcher of beer, nor would they have heard of our Floating Palais. Meet characters like Stormy Summers and Don Dunstan and be amused by Adelaide’s shock at the arrival of the tango,”  “We think the audience will agree ‘Colonel Light got it right –
Songwriter/performers: Matt Swayne and Elizabeth Reid, Keith Preston, Alan Hartley, Ivone Kirkpatrick; Paula Standing and Paul Roberts.

What a great idea – get a group of songwriters together, delve into the archives of Adelaide’s past and see what songs might come out of it. ...Every song on the bill offered something – intriguing lyrics, catchy melody, humour, or interesting arrangement.
