There are many small intricacies to be found everywhere if you take a moment to look. Z Ward, South Australia’s place for the criminally insane, has many such features to be found. If you delve even further you can find interesting stories in the bricks that hold this building together and in the life of the man responsible for its design.

This two hour self-guided tour reflects upon the history of Z Ward’s architect, Edward John Woods but goes beyond his role as Architect-In-Chief and explores other passions in his life. Along the tour you will collect clues that will lead you to the day room and to creating your own piece of art and relax for a moment in the airing court whilst listening to music of E J Woods’ era played by local string quartet.

This adventure is presented by Emma Knights Productions and The National Trust to create awareness and a respectful and immersive historical experience of Z Ward. Families are most welcome and bookings are essential.

*Please note that the second session will be around sunset time. If you find old buildings erie after dark then book for the earlier session!
