KELLY MENHENNETT BAND with MAX SAVAGE and COSMO THUNDERCAT
TRINITY SESSIONS PRESENTS THREE ADELAIDE BANDS IN CONCERT MODE - KELLY MENHENNETT BAND, MAX SAVAGE AND THE FALSE IDOLS AND COSMO THUNDERCAT. Food available during the interval plus a licensed bar pre-show and interval. Music at 5pm Doors 4.30pm. Fully seated, general admission.
Born in the Riverland, Kelly Menhennett left her career as a winemaker to be a full time musician and since then she's gone on to win the national Telstra Road To Discovery award for her songwriting, independently released 2 full length albums and performed at iconic national and international festivals both solo and with her band. She has performed a number of times at Trinity Sessions supporting international artists like Patty Larkin and Sandi Thom, but it has always been a desire to have her perform with her band, and now we have been able to do it. Always an engaging and inspiring performer but with the full band there is a heightened level of excitement and passion that blows audiences away.
In late 2010, Kelly released her debut album “World Of Mine”, receiving great response by fans and media and named one of the top 10 albums for 2011 by Rhythms magazine’s Sue Barrett. Last year she released her 2nd album, "Small Dreams", an album recorded live over 3 days in Mr Lemons Studio in Nashville with producer Neilson Hubbard and an all-star band including the likes of Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket) and Kim Richey. In contrast to her first album, Small Dreams is a little darker, a little dirtier and focuses more on her love of Americana music which has inspired her for a lifetime. Also well received by fans and media, Small Dreams was named a top 3 release for 2014 by Rhythms Magazine.
Max Savage blends mystic lyricism with rock and roll swagger to create a live show that moves effortlessly between country, blues and soul. Evoking landscape, memory and a sense of the profound, his songs are filled with tenderness, heartache, and the bitterness of loss. Max and his band The False Idols brought their carefully blending vintage rhythm and blues sensibilities and Max's intricately crafted songs to the WOMAD stage this year.
Cosmo Thundercat make garage-folk-pop music that glimmers with true, raw and honest personality. Described as a cross between Ryan Adams, Tom Petty and Angus Stone, the band create a captivating landscape progressing through upbeat, soulful, garage-pop to darker, acoustic and alt-country rhythms. The band has garnered attention from local and national radio, receiving uplifting reviews. They were listed in Rip It Up Magazine's 'Industry Picks' as a band to watch in 2014 and their recent single ‘Cigarette Lover' has received high rotation on Triple J Unearthed, joining the 'Best New Music' playlist.
"If it were possible to capture the essence of sunshine through music, these chaps might just about done it” (Music Minute, NY).
