Mayakovsky

Leigh Warren choreographs a work with 2nd Year Dance students.

Mayakovsky is also the name of a Russian playwright and  the choreographic interpretation of the wonderful score by Luciano Berio, Sinfonia. The score itself is inspired by other famous composers like Mahler and Debussy making it an original and very ahead of its time acoustic live sampling. The choreography is rhapsodic but structurally welded to the shape of the music. This piece of music was originally used by Norman Morrice the director of the Ballet Rambert in London it made a lasting impression on me. That work was called That is the Show.
