Floating Melodies - Acknowledgement of Country

This special Floating Melodies, as part of Naidoc Week South Australia, will be celebrating the history and culture of the Kaurna people of South Australia. Music, art, foods and drinks whilst cruising along the peaceful river Torrens on board Popeye and Paddle Boats on the Torrens River.

Something I aim to achieve with Floating Melodies is connecting and celebrating the differences in our communities. By experiencing a part of another culture, I hope that we can gain an understanding and appreciation for others as well as learn and share something new.

Our first morning version - come along and watch a beautiful sunrise on the Torrens before heading to work.

A one hour cruise of the Torrens, food, one beverage and concert included in ticket price. Tickets start from $32.50. A special school version is available later in the day (please contact me for more details)

NAIDOC stands for National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee. Its origins can be traced to the emergence of Aboriginal groups in the 1920′s which sought to increase awareness in the wider community of the status and treatment of Indigenous Australians.

NAIDOC Week is held in the first full week of July. It is a time to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements and is an opportunity to recognise the contributions that Indigenous Australians make to our country and our society.

More details to follow.
