SHANE HOWARD - ALBUM LAUNCH

TRINITY SESSIONS PRESENTS IN INTIMATE CONCERT MODE THE LAUNCH OF SHANE HOWARD’S 13th ALBUM Music 6pm Doors 5.30pm. Guests HALFWAY TO FORTH

Just like the sky and waters of the Great Southern Ocean, where Shane Howard was raised and resides, his 13th solo album, ‘Deeper South’, features songs full of music and poetry that are deep and dark yet illuminated by great shafts of light.

Featuring new songs written by Howard, ‘Deeper South’ is a musical postcard from ‘the edge of the world’ - the unique southern coast ofAustralia.

For this self produced album, Howard was joined in his home studio by long term musical friends John Hudson (Guitar, Dobro), Ewen Baker (Fiddle, Mandolin) and Ruben Shannon (Acoustic Bass).

Shane’s anthemic song, Solid Rock, from the album, Spirit of Place (1982), recorded with his band Goanna, was written after a moving experience at an inma at Uluru in 1981. It has since passed into folklore and the Australian psyche. He pushed on, beyond commercial success, tirelessly pursuing an artist’s journey, in order to make sense of the story of a ‘whitefella’ in an Aboriginal country.

His songs have been recorded by numerous artists as diverse as Ireland's Mary Black and Australia's John Farnham and Troy Cassar-Daley. He has spent much of his musical life working with Aboriginal musicians, as well as touring Ireland and forging Irish-Australian connections. Shane has been a producer for the Pigram Brothers, Street Warriors, Mary Black, Archie Roach and the soundtrack for the Jimmy Chi musical, Corrugation Road. He’s a founding member of the celebrated Black Arm Band.

HALFWAY TO FORTH are brothers Dan & Kyle Lizotte. If you head up past the old steam railway, over the river and round the bend you’ll arrive at their family home, about halfway along the road to a little town called Forth on the NW coast ofTasmania,Australia. Their music is honest and rootsy, with folk, country and blues shades. These boys attend both schools, Old and New, and stick to writing what they know.  You’ll hear more than a little foot stompin’, banjo pluckin’ and bottle neck slidin’.
