The Breakfast Club - Live on Stage

The Breakfast Club is a 1985 American coming of age comedy-drama written by John Hughes that starred the original Brat Pack of Judd NelsonAnthony Michael Hall,  Emilio EstevezMolly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy. The storyline follows five teenagers, each a member of a different high school clique, who spend a Saturday in detention at Shermer High School, and come to realise that they are all more than their respective stereotypes, while facing a villainous principal. Critics consider it one of the greatest high school films, as well as one of Hughes' most memorable and recognisable works. Matt Byrne has adapted, designed and directed the show for its full SA Premiere. There have been an array of stage productions of The Breakfast Club around the globe, inspired by the aching accuracy of John Hughes dialogue and the chance to bring these indelible characters to life before an audience.

Jamie Hornsby plays Brian “The Brain” Johnson, Kacy Ratta plays Claire “The Princess” Standish, Loccy Hywood plays Andrew “The Athlete” Clark, Kristen Tommasini plays Allison “The Basket Case” Reynolds and James King plays John “The Criminal” Bender. Byrne plays Principal Vernon and Brendan Cooney plays Carl The Janitor. At 7 a.m. the students meet with nothing in common, but by 4 p.m. they have opened their hearts, bared their souls and fought their way to common ground and realise they need each other ... they have become The Breakfast Club.
