Birdbrain Abridged

Birdbrain Abridged is a remounting of Birdbrain by Garry Stewart, the long-standing Artistic Director of Australian Dance Theatre. Inspired by Swan Lake, one of the most iconic classical ballets, Birdbrain cross-examines the themes of the original work and completely inverts the narrative. Birdbrain was Garry Stewart’s first full length work for ADT and a formative insight into a new vocabulary of contemporary dance. First performed at the 2000 Adelaide Festival, the work has become a landmark in Australian contemporary dance. AC Arts is thrilled to be remounting Birdbrain in an abridged format during Garry Stewart's final year at the helm of Australian Dance Theatre.
