Can't Stop the Serenity 2016

Ready to misbehave, fine folk of Adelaide? The Adelaide Browncoats are thrilled to announce details of this year’s Can’t Stop the Serenity event. Our very generous sponsors, Palace Nova Cinemas, will be hosting our shindig on Saturday 8 October, from 12.30pm until 5.30pm.

The fun will begin with a rare opportunity to experience a super-sized screening of Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, complete with souvenir interactive bag.

Think Joss Whedon meets Rocky Horror!

The rights to screen Dr Horrible can’t be bought with a diamond the size of a testicle, but we got our hands on them…the rights, that is.

The main event will of course be a screening of the Big Damn Movie! And, in between, there will be the chance to win some amazing prizes in our raffle and silent auction, pick up some shinies at the Mad Zombie Collectables stall and for those who choose to dress up in their finest geekery, we will be holding a competition for the best Whedonverse cosplay as well.

There are a couple of ticket options available via Dramatix or if you prefer you can get hard copy tickets from Mad Zombie Collectables in Twin Plaza, 22-24 Twin St, Adelaide.

What are the ticket options?

There are multiple ticket options this year, so please make sure you grab the right one!

Option 1: See both Dr Horrible (includes souvenir interactive bag) and Serenity for $30

Option 2: Just the Serenity screening - $20

Option 3: Just the Dr Horrible screening (still includes souvenir interactive bag) - $15

Doors open at 12:30pm for raffle and stall fun, with the Dr Horrible screening at 1:45pm. Serenity will screen at 3:30pm. For more details on timing, raffle prizes and our Whedonverse cosplay competition please visit our Facebook page Adelaide Browncoats

Which charities are we supporting this year?

As part of the world-wide CSTS movement, 75% of the proceeds go towards Equality Now.

The remaining proceeds go towards a local charity. In 2016, the Adelaide Browncoats have chosen to support Essentials 4 Women SA. Essentials 4 Women SA aims to provide women with the basic, but costly, items for feminine hygiene including sanitary products and underwear. Limited access to sanitary products means these women are often forced to choose between buying sanitary products or other essential items like food for their children. They help women (and men) who are homeless, at risk of becoming homeless or victims of domestic violence. Basically anyone who has little or no income.

Wanna help us keep her in the air another year? Is Mal’s coat kinda brownish? See you there!
