Well recognised as one of New Zealand's established songwriting stars, indie-folk singer songwriter Mel Parsons' star is on the rise. Parsons has just released her third full length album 'Drylands"to critical acclaim, returning triumphant from a 23-date headline tour of NZ, following performances at WOMAD, Woodford Folk Festival, Folk Alliance International in the US and Byron Bay Bluesfest. Since its release, 'Drylands' has spent 11 weeks in the IMNZ charts peaking at No 2.
Parsons is a two-time NZ Music Award finalist and a current finalist for the coveted APRA Silver Scroll award (in a list of five that includes Lorde).
With a dynamic live show, Parsons is an engaging performer with a natural emotive voice that allows the listener to become part of the story. We are very excited to have Mel making the trip over to Adelaide for her first Trinity Sessions gig; we have seen her a few times, including Byron Bay, and loved her shows.

Supporting Mel Parsons will be South Australian songwriter Tara Carragher, a lover of poetic storytelling, soul-searching, and universal themes. Her songs evoke a feeling of longing, self exploration and a fearless intensity which is unmistakably her own. Her adventurous spirit coupled with an undying passion for Americana music led her to the USA in 2012 where she attended the New Orleans Traditional Jazz Workshop, performed at Austin Tx's most famous venue: Antone's, and recorded her debut full length album 'Big River Crossing' in the desert of Las Cruces, New Mexico
