BRENDAN GALLAGHER with CAITLIN HARNETT

TRINITY SESSIONS PRESENTS IN INTIMATE CONCERT MODE BRENDAN GALLAGHER WITH VERY SPECIAL GUEST CAITLIN HARNETT. Music 6.00pm Doors 5.30pm

BRENDAN GALLAGHER wowed us last year with music and a performance that can only come from someone who is a complete professional and done the hard yards in Australian music. This has been recognised by the industry and his peers over many years. Just recently he toured with The Audreys on their Roll Away the Tears Tour.  His most recent double album is Wine Island, “funky, bluesly, gritty, a little bit country a little bit rock ‘n roll and 100% Brendo”.

Brendan Gallagher is a music all rounder – singer, multi instrumentalist, songwriter, performer, producer, composer & author. He is best known as singer/songwriter with Karma County. Since 1995 the band have released six albums and toured around Australia and the world. His debut solo album On Eve St was one of the top 25 albums for the Australian Music Prize 2006. In 2009 he followed up with Tooraloo & Tender. In 2013 he released his third, a double album, Wine Island.

Brendan has produced records for Doc Neeson (Angels), Emma Donovan, Jeremy Oxley (Sunnyboys) and more, including two ARIA award winners – the late, great Jimmy Little’s instant Australian classic Messenger (1999) and Karma County’s Into The Land Of Promise (2000).

His distinctive guitar playing can be heard on recordings for artists like David Bowie, Jimmy Little and Kylie Minogue. He is also the author of The Open Tuning Chord Book For Guitar favoured by guitarists from Peter Buck (REM) to Arlo Guthrie.

Brendan’s songs have appeared in feature films like Somersault, Clubland & The Boys Are Back and TV shows like Sea Change & City Homicide. He has composed for short films by Rachel Perkins and Warwick Thornton and documentaries for ABC and SBS TV. In 2009 he composed the score for Aussie  feature film Subdivision.

For over thirty years he has maintained a comprehensive career as an independent artist in the music business. Brendan is an APRA Ambassador.

It is a great thrill for us to have, also from New South Wales, CAITLIN HARNETT; recently back from a tour of the US and Canada where she was invited to play at music festivals in Brooklyn and Toronto. Caitlin Harnett's songs evoke Laurel Canyon of the early 1970s. They share the personal and poetic nature of Joni Mitchell and Jackson Browne’s early songs, along with the fragility of Judee Sill, youthful in their outlook but with age-old concerns at their core. Combined with her guitar, banjo and harmonica, her songs have the lilt of folk, a touch of pop and the honesty of Americana. Caitlin is one of the youngest signings to Mushroom Music Publishing, Australias largest independent music publisher. She has been recognised both internationally and locally for her songwriting. We are hoping that she will have the new album recorded in Canada with her.
